'People are afraid' - the reasons 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the team to beat.

There's no doubt why Arsenal have become many people's top picks to secure the Premier League in the current campaign.

Examine their results against Newcastle and Crystal Palace in contrast with those same matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have overcome all of them this time around, but dropped 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race previously.

Impenetrable Backline

Arsenal's defensive strength is a key reason why they are looking well positioned to finally fulfil their title ambition.

They lead the league for shutouts (6), goals conceded (3), shots faced (72), quality opportunities against (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the best in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their danger from dead balls is highly documented, but competing clubs still find it difficult to neutralize the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, several additional than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just afraid of them and it is excellent to see."

Title Credentials

What is particularly remarkable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their long-standing opponents aren't faring so well. This marks the initial occasion at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on boss Mikel Arteta at the start, having invested around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in pursuit of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the business has so far proven successful in remarkable manner, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and having the most resilient defense, despite several injuries.

  • Shutouts in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across various contests

Former players and analysts have labeled Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now functioning with confidence and determination.
