A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

The assault caused the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
